Insectivor-ism

My friend got me in the mood for some insectivorous plants (specifically, the Venus flytrap) on our trip to Cameron Highlands. I still haven't heard the end of it from him. This is the little pot he got for his garden (I'm tempted to grow some myself now). And here are 2 sites that he introduced me to:

http://www.sarracenia.com/faq/faq2000.html (excellent site for you readers out there)

http://www.botany.org/bsa/misc/carn.html (excellent site for you non-readers out there)

Natural sciences goes automobile...

...for just a little bit.

A friend of mine is selling this Perodua Kenari for RM22k. It's a 2001 model with new clutch plate, engine mounting, drive shaft and 2 new tyres. In case you're wondering, the owner's going overseas for studies so the car has to go. Anyone interested or know anyone who may be interested?

Oh and if you ARE interested, you'll be joining my exclusive 'Porche' gang! ;)

Pro or con-traception

It's that time again! Calling one and all...
The 706 class will be having a debate on the topic:
"CONTRACEPTIVES SHOULD BE MADE ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE"
This debate is to take place in lab G.03 on Thursday the 16th of August 2007. Anyone and everyone who has an interest in the topic and has nothing better to do are most welcome to come. ;)
As for the debaters, I didn't want to do your homework for you so I'm limiting the help I give you to prepare. I'm only giving you some minor websites to help (you might have already come across these anyway).

So stop hating me for making you do this and enjoy preparing! :)

Respiration galore!!!

Wasn't it just so much fun when we were looking at this topic in class today? ;)
(Ok all you who are cringing in your seats now, you have no choice but to share my enthusiasm!)
Since we 'enjoyed' it so much, I thought I'd put up some stuff on it.

(This is the summary of glycolysis that I showed you in class.)

(Here's a more detailed picture of how the electron transport chain works. Don't be afraid of the details ya.)

And finally, a summary of the whole respiration process:
