Spider vs Snake

I was truly amazed as I watched this. Even nature tells us that there is strength in weakness.

haha. ooh holiday? I'm good thanks. Stressed. I am at the end of my PhD now - writing up and last few tests. Job hunting too. never enough time to do it all!

oh wow! almost done? that's awesome! you hunting for a job in the UK itself?

M&Ms said...

Almost... If only I could spend more time on my phd. I've been distracted with other projects and tasks. Actually I am going for an interview in 2 hours (eek!). A research associate post. I am very nervous! What do you do in Nottingham Uni?

Jaya said...

Hey sorry for this late reply. How did the interview go?
I'm teaching and pursuing my PhD in Nottingham. :)

No worries. It went well thanks, albeit a bit weird since I knew the interviewers. Started the job just over a month ago :)
Ooh exciting news on the PhD! Best of luck! I imagine it's really hard doing it part-time. What is it on? I have still not submitted mine! Taking ages to finish it off.

Oh congrats on the job! Must be nice to be able to continue working there. PhD is exciting but it is challenging as well. It's a PhD in Psychology actually. :) So am moving away from Biology for a bit although am sticking to education as my research is focused on classroom behaviour.

Thanks :)

Aahh that's interesting. Might be really useful as someone who teaches. I hope it goes well :)

I've not decided to stay in academia or go into industry. At the moment I'm in academia but with strong industrial links. I want to stay in research... research in academia comes with students though haha not sure I want to deal with students!

those are some interesting options you have there. :) so will you ever come home? ;)

Er probably not haha. With things as they are, I doubt it. I can't predict the future though. I'll still go back for holidays etc of course.

Oh, I have been reminded of you several times. By my students (and how you can't be too nice to them!) and also career pondering. I think you were the one who pointed out the existence of bioengineering. Although now I am a systems engineer, it was a good choice. Thank you :)

hahah...that's a very nice thing to say and I'm glad things worked out nicely for you in the field you're in! :) career choice can be quite a challenging aspect of life for a young person these days.
