Evolution upon request

Somebody asked me about evolution right? Well, I've been hunting for something that is as close to the scientific truth about evolution as possible and this is what I've come up with so far. Many articles online or available out there are always at two ends of the spectrum and many are pretty extreme. Hopefully this helps educate. The second link will help you understand the stuff you read from the first link. We must note the significant difference between micro- and macro-evolution.

hi m&m. welcome on board.
and dhivia, that's referring to macroevolution which is ridiculous when you think of it carefully, isn't it?

Nadia would like to thank Mr. Jaya posting up her request! I read only the first few paraghraphs from the first link. I don't get eh brown eyed blue eyed thingy. What kind of 'idea' is that?

it's not that complicated nadia. you need to understand mendel's theory on inheritance though. knowing what dominant and recessive means would help.

Oh yeah... What about that scrabble thingy? Divide the alphabets? They even divide the board? I'm confused...

yes i admit that that analogy is pretty tough. but let me just summarise. it speaks of the possibilities (variations) that's available in each generation which is shown in its characteristics. hhmmm...not sure if that helped.

assume that evolution is true with acceptable facts... how long does it take for A to go through process of evolution and change to B with a distinct characteristic?

i agree with nadia ... its confusing.. i understand the first mendel's theory... but not the second theory... the table with AABB AaBb AABb AabB is confusing... -.-"

well, in the first place we must understand that there's not enough proof to show that A changed to B.

and don't worry about mendel. we'll be studying his theories soon ya. ;)

ooo... tat means if tat lizard change to something (which look exactly like a bird)... its still a lizard? sorry if i am cufising everyone coz i dunno wat i am asking.. haha.... ;p

Oh god, more studying... Must put a mindset - 'bio is fun...'

Sir, my dad was wondering, how can black or any other coloured hair turn white?

IF it turns into something that looks exactly like a bird then it'll be a bird. but the question is whether it CAN turn into something EXACTLY like a bird.

and nadia, gray hair results from a reduction of pigment, while white hair has no pigment, but why this happens remains somewhat of a mystery.

Sir, aren't hairs made from collagen? Which means its a protein structure,right?So...
1)Can we eat hair to survive or grow?
2)The Fe in the haem group of haemoglobins make it red, then what is this pigment that actually makes hair black/red/blonde?

Sooooo.... Birds came from lizards that came from fish.... Where do we come in?

Maybe im related to a cricket or smthin... or maybe a Illama..... (*pondering*)

mayb production of pigment will gradually decreases as the result of ageing? it will be nice if scientist found the way to play wif the DNA... then we can decide any hair colour for our children... if i have 7 kids... each will take one colour from the colour of rainbow.. ^^
just joking ;p

sadly mojojojo, designer babies are actually banned in malaysia. read it in the newspaper. the only way for them to alter any dna is because of a disease that will affect the baby when it grows up.

shine: the color of hair is due to the presence of a pigment called melanin. melanin is found in two forms. Eumelanin is the dark pigment which predominates in black and brunette hair. Phaeomelanin is a lighter pigment, which is found in red and blond hair. and as for eating hair, hair cannot be digested therefore it gathers in the intestinal tract or stomach. it can create a blockage that can be fatal if not removed.

So Shine, do you eat your own hair?
Hahahah

i watched a movie b4...
A force B to eat hair...
finally the hair got stuck in the stomach or the usus... then B felt pain like hell...

try to imagine the hair (especially short hair) inside ur body and keep cucuk ur usus like a needle....

Wood Chucker chucks that evolution exist.. and he opines that evolution is mainly due to mutation.. y? the vast changes of conditions(weather, earth structure etc..), diet, and lot more causes our body to sought of like counteract to suit the environment.. some evolution might not even be noticed, but it occurs.. hmm.. evolution? it is heard that humans evolved from aqua-monkeys or in other words, monkey that line in the water.. try to imagine.. i'll be posting about it soon..
